Coaching Staff:

Mark Di Nardo

Mark played AFL, mostly in Melbourne, for over 20 years and has worked on AFL broadcasts, currently for Fox Footy and Seven Network, creating highlights and analysis vision for commentators.

He has been an Auskick coach for four years, and has coached Newcastle City Juniors for five years as head coach or assistant.

Last year he coached Newcastle City’s Senior Womens Plate side and this year is coaching Newcastle City’s Men’s Shield side.

Joe Harrison

Joe is a former student of Hunter Sports High School and a recent Year 12 graduate. An aspiring AFL athlete, Joe is currently part of the Sydney Swans Academy, where he continues to develop his skills in the sport he has loved his entire life.

During his five years in the school's AFL program, Joe gained valuable training and experience that helped shape his athletic abilities. Now, he is eager to give back to his school community by starting a coaching initiative. Joe aims to support younger aspiring AFL players by sharing his knowledge and experiences, helping them along their journey just as his school supported him throughout his sporting and educational path.

How do I apply?

To be part of this academy prospective students need to apply online on this website. Students must participate in regular AFL competitions, undertake a trial, and provide supporting documentation as detailed in the online application form. Note that students may be in any year, and acceptance and ongoing placement in the academy is based on continued academic effort, acceptable attendance levels and an excellent behaviour record.

Students are supported by a school environment which caters for the academic and welfare needs of the talented athlete, allowing them to gain a quality education whilst still pursuing their sporting dreams.
