The HSHS library is the hub of the school and is an important resource for our students as they strive to achieve both academic and sporting success. Our library staff are committed to assisting students and staff with their learning and information needs.

The Hunter Sports High School library offers students:

  • A multimedia room that can be used to access VTV and SharePoint to incorporate video programs and DVDs into lessons
  • A bank of networked computers linked to the school intranet and the internet
  • A continually updated book and periodical collection that supports the curriculum
  • A vast fiction collection to encourage reading and enhance literacy programs
  • HSC and Preliminary study guides
  • Quiet reading and study areas
  • Knowledgeable staff to assist with learning, information and technology queries

Staff and students are able to search HSHS library resources through the NSW DET portal website using their DET login. All classroom teachers and coaching staff are encouraged to use the library and incorporate research skills into their lessons.

Senior Study/Quiet Room:

A 'quiet room' is located within the library for the use of senior students only. This room provides them with computers and a quiet place to study and research outside of lesson times, including before and after school.

Newcastle Region Library Online Resources:

Students are able to access the Newcastle Region Library's online resources after becoming members. A Newcastle Region Library card can provide access to State Library of NSW (SLNSW) online resources, including local and international newspapers, full-text journals, magazines, databases, e-Books and e-Audiobooks.

Please see HSHS library staff for details and membership application forms. An application form can also be found at the link below and should be submitted to HSHS library staff for processing.
