Next Step Academy Years 11 and 12 (HSC non-ATAR pathway)

Next Step Academy is a Stage 6, non-ATAR pathway designed for students who learn best through applied, real-world experiences. The program integrates learning across English Studies, Computing Applications, and Work Studies with an advisor, while students also complete two VET subjects and Numeracy with specialist teachers. Through authentic projects, industry partnerships, and community engagement, students work toward their HSC in a supportive, connected environment. Next Step Academy develops complex competencies such as agency in learning, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration, while enabling students to earn nationally recognised credentials and prepare for post-school pathways in employment, training, or further education. The program empowers students to take ownership of their learning, connect their studies to personal goals, and confidently take the next step beyond school.
